March 2013

Name: Katelyn Seaba
Hometown: Iowa City
Major: Behavioral Neuroscience
Minors: Theology and Biology
Where did you study abroad? Greece
How long were you there? 20 days

Why did you choose to study in this location? The program was called "Chiseling God in Ancient Greece" and Theology is my minor. Also, Micah Kiel was the instructor and he's one of my teachers who taught me more about myself and about having my own opinion.

What is your favorite memory? Visiting all the ancient Greek sites; learning about Greek culture and food; and of course the beautiful scenery.

How did your experience abroad impact you as a person? It made me think more independently about other cultures. I couldn't even tell you what to expect, it's a once in a lifetime experience and touches the soul. I also can't believe how well ancient civilizations held their own with limited materials.

What advice would you give to other students thinking about studying abroad? Don't expect anything–but try everything–and don't be scared of the unknown. Take the risk. Trust me, it's worth it.
