As Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education, Sallee Beneke has a passion for her profession that extends nationally.
Beneke's desire to provide exemplary practices to the early childhood program at St. Ambrose gave her the opportunity to present at the National Association for the Education of Young Children conference in Atlanta, Ga. this past fall. Along with Master of Education in Teaching (MEDT) students Angie Herrington and Lynn Lubben (who also work at the SAU Children's Campus), Beneke presented a study of the continuum of development of the Project Approach and Inquiry from age one through five.
Currently president-elect of the Illinois Division for Early Childhood (DEC), Beneke is a member of the Quad Cities Association for the Education of Young Children (QCAEYC), serving as state board representative and co-chair of the professional development committee.
In May 2013 her article, "The Potential of the Project Approach to Support Diverse Learners," will be published in the professional journal Young Children. Beneke was recently named a University of Illinois 2013 Distinguished Alumni.
