Freshman Spotlight: Sophie Foreman

March 2013

sophieName: Sophie Foreman

Hometown: Nashville, Tenn.

Major: Journalism/Sociology

Age that you started theatre: Technically, I was in my first real production in 3rd grade, but I put on "plays" (a.k.a. dressing up, acting ridiculous, and forcing my friends and brother to do the same) ever since I could remember. I was a pretty hardcore kid.

Dream Role and Why: Though I don't really consider myself as a singer, it's probably Maureen from Rent. She is such an outrageous and sassy character; I would love the challenge. And, hey, who doesn't love a good excuse to moon people on stage?

Productions I've been involved in: At SAU: Overtones (One-Act), No Exit; Other: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cinderella, The Laramie Project, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, M*A*S*H

Latest Project: Inez in No Exit (March 21-23! Come see it!)

Why SAU? My dad graduated from St. Ambrose, and he loved it. So, I came and visited, and it felt right. It seemed like a perfect fit. I got a scholarship, and everything just fell into place.

Any job in the world: Traveling photojournalist for National Geographic.....or a resort water slide tester. (Seriously, it's a thing.)

Who Inspires me the most: I am so blessed to say that there are many people in my life who inspire me every day, but my family definitely tops the list. They are such a wonderful, unconditional support system, and I wouldn't be who I am without them.

Where do you see yourself in five years: Wherever life takes me!
