Senior Spotlight: Tim Stompanato

tim

March 2013

Name: Tim Stompanato

Hometown: Darien, Ill.

Major: Theatre/Philosophy

Previous SAU Productions: Chicago (currently), Eurydice, Alice in Wonderland, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dakota Jones and the Search for Atlantis, A New Brain, Lady Winderemere's Fan, Dark Play or Stories for Boys, The Drowsy Chaperone, A Year With Frog and Toad, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

What was your favorite role, and why? Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream was a great role to play as it was challenging, fulfilling, and allowed me to explore and develop as an actor.

Who inspires you? My folks, Cory, Dan, Kris, my friends, my fellow actors, and everyone who's had an impact on me and has pushed me in my goals.

What is your favorite play/musical and why? That's a tough one because favorite changes day-by-day. But my consistent favorite shows are The Goat by Edward Albee, American Buffalo by David Mamet, and Pippin.

What drew you to the Theatre and when? Oh man, I couldn't tell you. I went to see shows a lot as a kid and there was something about them that always drew me in. I've always been involved in theatre where I could and one day decided it was what I wanted to do with my life.

What is your favorite memory of the Theater? Back stage during any show. The camaraderie, the chaos, the adrenaline right before you go on stage, that's what I'll always remember.

Any words of wisdom or advice for future Theatre patrons? Just be smart and don't act like a goon. Be someone that people enjoy working with and being around. Know when it's time to have fun and when it's time to get down to business.

What will you miss the most about the SAU Theatre department? Everything. The Professors, the people, the opportunities, and the sense of home. The theatre world is a cutthroat place at times, but I know I'll always have Ambrose and the department.

What are your plans after graduation? These plans change every week, but as of now I plan on staying in the Quad Cities for a year or two auditioning and working where I can, then moving back home and figuring out where to go from there!
