Sandy Cassady, Dean of the College of Health and Human Services and Professor in the Physical Therapy Department presented the Linda Crane Lecture at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in January.
Dr. Cassady received this honor in recognition of her outstanding and enduring contributions to the practice of physical therapy. She has served as the editor of the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal and has held other important roles in the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. The title of Dr. Cassady’s talk was “From Silos to Bridges: Preparing Effective Teams for a Better Delivery System.”
During her lecture, Dr. Cassady addressed traits of dysfunctional teams based on Patrick Lencioni’s book, Five Dysfunctions of a Team and discussed how the principles of teamwork apply to healthcare.
Dr. Cassady has been a faculty member at St. Ambrose University since 1994 and served as the Director of the SAU PT Department from 2002-2010. She was appointed dean of the college in 2010.
