National Recognition for Dean Cassady

Sandra Cassady, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at St. Ambrose University, has received national recognition from the American Physical Therapy Association. Cassady was honored with the 2013 Linda Crane Memorial Lecture Award in recognition of "outstanding and enduring contributions to the practice of physical therapy," according to the association.

 "The Linda Crane Memorial Lecture Award recognizes Dean Cassady's leadership, dedication and service to the profession of physical therapy on a local, state and national level," said Paul Koch, St. Ambrose vice president for academic and student affairs. "Dr. Cassady has brought that same leadership and dedication to the development of St. Ambrose's health care programs, which continue to prepare highly qualified health care professionals to serve our community."

 Besides serving as dean of the College of Health and Human Services, Cassady continues to teach in the doctor of physical therapy program and has been instrumental in the development of the university's physician assistant program. She is past editor of the "Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal," and past associate editor of the "Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy."

 Cassady has written numerous articles, chapters and abstracts on topics related to cardiopulmonary physical therapy, and has received several professional awards for teaching, research and professional service. She is a fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Cassady earned her doctorate from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
