A Korean-American businessman, Kim was arrested and imprisoned in China for harboring North Korean refugees and building an underground railroad for their escape.

Professor of English Carl Herzig was born and raised in New York City. He has authored and edited numerous works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and served as an Iowa Humanities Scholar. At St. Ambrose since 1990, Herzig leads service-learning trips to India and teaches courses in sacred poetry, contemporary fiction, and creative and expository writing. He earned his doctorate from State University of New York-Stony Brook, N.Y.

On Wednesday, June 5, at 2:30 p.m., Herzig will speaking about The Fearless Passage of Steven Kim as part of a kick-off for the SAU Library Summer Reading Program. The event will take place on the second floor of the SAU Library.
