Urban Plunge

students volunteering

August 2013

It was 546 first-year and transfer students.

It was 1,293 hours of simultaneous community service.

It was Urban Plunge.

On Monday, Aug. 19, 28 groups of new St. Ambrose students traveled by foot or by bus—to all ends of the Quad Cities. Once there, they provided volunteer service to a variety of organizations, neighborhoods and agencies.

They cleaned, painted, pulled weeds, and visited with older Quad Citians. They worked in a marsh, moved furniture, and sorted chidren's books.

Part of SAU's Welcome Week, Urban Plunge introduces students to St. Ambrose's mission of service to others; allows them to become acquainted with their new community; and provides a chance to meet other new students.

Enjoy an SAUtv video.
