The next mainstage show St. Ambrose University Theatre Department will prepare is The Laramie Project, by Moises Kaufman.
It's a dramatic piece about the 1998 hate crime and murder of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old openly gay student in Laramie, Wyoming. In this three-act play, the actors portray multiple characters in several short scenes who are all reacting to the hate crime.
The show was written from the experiences of members of the Tectonic Theatre Project while they sought information about the murder. They drew from interviews they had with residents of Laramie, their own private journal entries during their searches, and published news reports.
The play will be directed by Daniel Rairdin-Hale '04. Auditions for this production will be held Friday, Dec. 6, 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to Noon in Allaert Auditorium.
Hope to see you all there!
