Sophomore Shannon Rourke is the newest writer to join the theatre newsletter team.
She is an actor/stage manager (and now director!) from Skokie, Ill. She is pursuing a double major in theatre and history with a minor in classical studies.
"I'm thrilled to have my voice heard on the newsletter!" Rourke said. "I've been reading it ever since I decided to come to Ambrose and I'm so delighted to be a part of the team!"
Rourke started her freshman year at SAU playing the leading woman, Merteuil in Les Liaisons Dangerous, for which she received an Irene Ryan nomination. She then played the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland and followed that up by stage managing her first main stage show at Ambrose, Eurydice. She finished the year by playing Go-To-Hell Kitty/Ensemble/Murderess in Chicago.
This past summer she was hired by the Bread and Roses Production company to stage manage an aerial dance show at the Ruth Page Center for Performing Arts in Chicago.
This fall, she started off stage managing Spamalot and is currently in the Directing Class directing a one-act play called Margaret's Bed.
"I enjoy all aspects of theatre," says Rourke, "and writing is one that I've never had a chance to do. I'm so excited to explore this part of the business and contribute more to the SAU theatre department. I can't wait to get started!"
