Hometown: Sterling, IL
Where did you study abroad? Twickenham, England (a suburb of London)
How long were you there? One semester
Why did you choose to study in England?
I chose to study abroad in England because I'd always been interested in British culture in general. London has always been one of my "bucket list" locations to visit and getting to live so close (to London) was a change I just couldn't pass up.
What is your favorite memory?
My favorite memory was probably going out to a local pub the very first night with all of the international students. It was that night I met the friends I became really close to over the course of the semester. It was a great time for us all to get to know each other.
How did your experience abroad impact you as a person?
Studying abroad has definitely made me a more independent person. I'm also more confident and outgoing. I have much more faith in myself and my capabilities now compared to before I left.
Do you have any advice to other students about studying abroad?
My advice to other students about studying abroad would be to not worry about things like missing home or not making friends. Everything will work out and you'll be having too much fun to really miss anyone. Also, make the most of your time abroad. It goes by so quickly, so travel when you can, hang out with your friends, but also, don't forget to study. Also, remember to travel in your host country as well.
