Dr. Katherine Van Blair has been named Director of the School of Social Work, beginning July 1, 2014.
Katie began teaching in the MSW program in 2001 and became Director in July 2008. With an MSW from St. Ambrose University, an MS in Family Studies from Iowa State, and a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, Dr. Van Blair has taught in the areas of mental health, feminist social work, couple and family therapy, and social work ethics. Under Katie's leadership, the School of Social Work has experienced growth, and the faculty look forward to her return.
Pamela Long has been serving as the Interim Director of the School of Social Work during this current academic year. Pam joined the School in 1999, as Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education.
In the last 15 years, Pam has developed the field education component of the curriculum and taught classes in practice, mental health, substance using disorders, spirituality and social work, and policy. As the School welcomes back Dr. Katherine Van Blair as Director, Pam will be moving to a full-time faculty position.
