Bettering their award-winning debut last year was a tall task, but SAU Dance Marathon students did it with ease on April 5.
More the 680 students registered to participate in the big event at the Rogalski Center. The students were raising funds to assist children with long-term illnesses and their families through the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
After 10 solid hours of dancing, laughing, singing and dancing some more, the Dance Marathon executive committee revealed that the group's year-long efforts had resulted in raising $132,148 for The Children's Miracle Network (CMN). The total represents a nearly $85,000 increase over the previous year's best-in-nation debut, and was $72,000 more than the CMN had established as a goal for the group.
