It's the time of year that those of us in academics hear the question, "So what do you do all summer?"
When people think about higher education, there is a perception that we are only busy during the fall and spring semesters when classes are in full throttle. I can tell you that is far from the truth for the Physical Therapy Department.
Summer is time to discuss, plan, revise, and complete major projects. When you read about the accomplishments in this newsletter, the foundation of many of these started in the summer. This summer our faculty members are revising courses and looking at ways to further strengthen our DPT curriculum. Our residency program is going through some major changes that are very exciting, but also time consuming. We are writing manuscripts for publication, collecting data for research studies, conducting continuing education classes and serving the community and our professional organizations locally and nationally. And we are also designing newsletters that were planned to go out months ago!
In addition to this we have our second year students on campus for a six week summer session, our third year students starting their internships, and we are getting ready for our new cohort of 36 individuals that start in August. While we all try to find some time to get away from the office to re-energize during the summer, we are using our time to plan and coordinate the upcoming year and beyond.
I encourage you to read our full newsletter, but I want to draw your attention to a few areas. First, take some time to read about all the activities our of faculty and read about what we have done this past year. Second, read about the Clinical Education Summit and the webinars that will be held surrounding this event. We hope those of you who are local will join us at SAU to view one or more of the webinars. If you can't make it our viewing of the webinars, consider watching on your own and be sure to read some of the position papers surrounding the Clinical Education Summit.
