The classes of 2004 and 2009 will celebrate a bold, new kind of Homecoming reunion on Sept. 20.
At the inaugural Bees of the Last Decade (BOLD) gathering, SAU graduates from 2005 through 2014 are encouraged to join those two reunion classes for an evening cocktail party at the historic Alumni House on Brady Street in Davenport.
"This is an effort to engage recent graduates with the understanding that their St. Ambrose friendships extend beyond the people with whom they graduated," said Anne Gannaway, director of alumni engagement. "It should be a more casual atmosphere, and a more inclusive way to celebrate."
Gannaway said a good turnout and positive feedback could help make the BOLD bash a Homecoming tradition for young alums going forward.
Homecoming 2014 also will include longstanding traditions, of course, including a Friday, Sept. 19 mixer at Circle Tap in Davenport from 7 p.m. until midnight. The 19th Annual Killer Bee 5K Run/Walk and the Bumble Rumble Fun Run for Kids will be part of the Saturday, Sept. 20 morning agenda; and Taste of Ambrose and the Homecoming football game at Brady Street Stadium will take place that afternoon.
A Homecoming Mass at Christ the King Chapel on Sept. 21, and the annual Heritage Day Brunch at the Outing Club in Davenport will continue the weekend festivities.
