A beautiful May afternoon greeted the newest St. Ambrose University graduates on May 10, when the Rev. Greg Boyle shared inspirational stories of his work in gang intervention and creating social kinship in inner-city Los Angeles.
"St. Ambrose is not the place you come to. It has always been the place you go from," Fr. Boyle told the 656 degree candidates at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill. "And you go from here to create a community of kinship such that God might recognize it."
Fr. Boyle was joined in receiving a St. Ambrose Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Laurel Walker, the retired executive director of Skip-A-Long Child Development Services and Skip-A-Long Family and Community Services.
