The Musical Theatre Intensive – led by our very own professor Cory Johnson – is a competition where students showcase their musical theatre skills and experiences.
The options to compete are a solo musical number, duet, or group. Out of 60 acts, only 20 will be chosen to perform in a cabaret performance on a Guthrie stage. We had three acts chosen to compete this year: First Year student Kayla Lansing performed a solo; Molly Conrad '14 also performed a solo; and senior Alexis Greene and sophomore Kelci Eaton performed a duet.
Conrad was one of the acts chosen to perform on the Guthrie stage! She performed "You Don't Know This Man" from the musical Parade. Here's a link to her final performance.
"MTI was an incredible experience," Conrad said. "In the span of two days, I learned a heap load about musical theatre and acting. Working with Jeff Whiting and Adrien Logsdon was an irreplaceable opportunity. They so generously shared the wisdom and knowledge they've acquired through their vast experiences in the theatre world. It was wonderful working alongside such talented, kind, and innovative artists."
Congrats Molly!
