Recently, St. Ambrose welcomed more than 300 girls to a fun night of science and engineering activities, including LED and 3D-printed jewelry, racing sailboats and frozen fractals.

"Melaina Yender, 8, and her sister Lillian, 6, worked the blades of the small windmill at the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center table inside the Rogalski Center at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
The Yenders, who attend Ekstrand Elementary in DeWitt, were trying to figure out which degree angle of the blades would capture the most wind and produce the most electricity. The sisters were among 350 elementary and intermediate school-age girls attending the third annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day."
