L. Joseph Hebert presented his paper, "The Reward of a King: Machiavelli, Aquinas, and Shakespeare's Richard III," at the October 2014 National Meeting-Conference of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD.

His paper will be published in a forthcoming edition of Perspectives on Political Science. He began his first year as editor in chief of The Catholic Social Science Review. Dr. Hebert will be on sabbatical in the spring semester of 2016, when he will begin work on a book entitled The Provision of Power Above: Shakespeare on the Politics of Charity.

Dr. Duk Kim traveled to South Korea for his second study abroad course, Experience Korea: Two States Remembering One Nation during the winterim 2014-2015.

He currently is preparing for an exploratory trip to Japan in July 2015 for his newly designed and third study abroad course, The Legacy of WWII: Nuclear Politics, Comfort Women, Spirituality in Japan and Korea during the winterim session for 2016-2017.

In 2014-15, Dr. William W. Parsons served as past-President of the Iowa Association of Political Scientists (IAPS) and attended the annual IAPS conference March 6-7 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

For the upcoming academic year, Dr. Parsons is developing a research project looking at voter attitudes and behaviors leading up to the 2106 Iowa Caucus.


About the Faculty:

Dr. William W. Parsons, Professor, is the Chair of the Department of Political Science and Leadership Studies, the Folwell Chair, and teaches American Institutions, public policy, public administration, environmental politics, and political leadership. Dr. Parsons earned his B.A. from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa (1979); an M.P.A from Iowa State University, Ames Iowa (1982); and a PH.D. from the University of Arizona in Tucson (1990).

Dr. L. Joseph Hebert, Professor, is the Director of Pre-law Studies and teaches political thought, the Constitution, and law and society. Dr. Hebert earned his B.A from the University of Maine (1997) and his M.A. (1998) and Ph.D. (2004) from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Duk H. Kim, Associate Professor, is the Director of the International Studies (IS) Program and teaches global terrorism, global issues, foreign policy, international law, international relations, comparative politics, and statistics. Dr. Kim earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
