The SAU Theatre Department will perform Jerry Finnegan's Sister in the Studio Theatre during the second weekend of September. The show is directed by junior Sam Jones and features two actors, senior Amelia Fischer and junior Jordan Webster-Moore.
Jerry Finnegan's Sister is a comedy by Jack Neary that focuses around Brian Dowd, and his neighbor, Beth Finnegan. Brian can never get the words right with Beth, but when he hears she's getting married, he has to decide to act on it, or let the love of his life go. The show takes the audience through their lives from age 5 to 23 (present-day).
"The whole process has been going really smoothly so far," Jones said. "The designers have been on top of things, and Jordan and Amelia have been prepared and ready to play and develop the show every time we come in. I can't say enough about the people around me and the amount of work everybody has been putting in. It's going to be a great show."
Stage Manager and junior Helene DeVine also is very excited about the show.
"The show is coming together really well!!" she said. "All the designers are on top of their job and know what they're doing, which makes things a lot easier on me. The actors push themselves every rehearsal and come up with their own ideas and are really getting to know their character. Sam's knowledge of the show and his love for it is impressive and is making this rehearsal process go very smoothly!! I'm anxious and excited for everyone to see it!"
"The rehearsal process for Jerry Finnegan's Sister has been amazing," said Webster-Moore. "I have never been pushed as an actor so much, and the results are fantastic. I honestly cannot wait to perform it for everyone!"
"Jerry Finnegan's Sister is such a cute play, and I'm so blessed to have been cast as Beth," Fischer said. "It's great to work with people who are so passionate about what we're creating. I can't wait for everyone to see the final product! No one should miss it. BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!"
Jerry Finnegan's Sister will be performed September 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and September 12 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $6 for everyone, including students, and can be purchased online or at the door.
