Major: Theatre and Writing

Favorite SAU Theatre Experience: Well, I've only acted in two shows here, Alice in Wonderland and The Laramie Project. Of those two, I would have to say that being the head of the Jabberwocky in Alice in Wonderland was my favorite. However, my favorite "role" has been sound designing and doing pretty much anything back stage or behind the sound board. That's where I belong. Also, stage managing The Cat in the Hat was pretty great!

What drew you to SAU: Emily Kurash '09 an SAU Theatre Department alum is one of my good friends, and she loved it here so much that I applied. Then SAU was the only place that didn't look at me like I was crazy for wanting to do a double major. After my first visit here, it was the people and the environment.

Favorite memory: There are so many to choose from. One of them would be Theatre in London. It was such an amazing experience that truly opened my eyes. I will never forget that trip.

Another more general memory would be the late nights spent in the theatre. As much as I complain about the work load, that is when the best memories are created. Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) is also full of amazing memories. Despite the cold of Lincoln, Neb., and Minneapolis in January (where the festivals have been held), KCACTF has been one of my favorite parts of college.

Also working in the costume shop. So many memories have been made with Dianne Dye and Dr. Cory Johnson. It has been an incredible time that I will never forget, because I will never forget how much they have helped and inspired me through these four years.

Advice: Try a little bit of everything. I came to SAU knowing nearly nothing about technical theatre and thinking I wanted to be an actor. Then I gave the tech side a try and fell in love. Don't hold yourself to one thing until you have tried everything. And then keep trying different things.

Future Plans: This is a hard one. The only real plans I have so far are getting married in August. After that I move to Chicago and hopefully have a job. I'm keeping my options open at this point. I'm ready to try something new and see what happens.
