three people on stage

(L-R) Brent Tubbs, Max Moline, Jackson Green

February 2017

The play of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Revised) is well underway and doing wonderfully! The cast and crew have been in rehearsal for a few weeks now and have made great progress.

"It's a blast to work on! There's never a dull moment in rehearsal," said stage manager senior Helene Devine. "Everything is falling into place, even though we've only had a short time to rehearse because of Winter Break and KCACTF. The actors and director have been working tirelessly to make this show a fun experience for everyone involved!"

For those keeping up with the show, you may recall there is a guest director: Brent Tubbs.

"Brent is an amazing director, and knows how to keep things flowing," said Devine. Tubbs was also a part of the original national touring production of this show! "He has a knowledge of the script like no other and it's encouraging," remarked senior Max Moline, one of the actors in the show. The actors and stage manager have definitely been enjoying the fortunate experience to be working with this seasoned professional.

If you are familiar with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Revised), you know this show is very light on elaborate scenic elements. But what it lacks in scenery, it makes up for in a multitude of props! It's been quite the fun challenge for First Years Kiara Thomas and Megan Peterson to find all the props necessary to make this show. It's not every day you have to find fake bones, a toy robot, golf clubs, and a sock puppet ghost - all for one show!

Sophomore Hannah Donovan, Lighting Designer, said she is looking forward to starting her work once she sees a full run-through of the show. With students and faculty collaborating so well to put on this show, you know it won't be one to miss! Plus, who doesn't want to see all of Shakespeare's shows compiled into an hour and a half?

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Revised) is shaping up to be an entertaining and unforgettable show! With a little more than two weeks until the show opens, they're in a great place! Please come check out all their hard work when the show opens Friday, February 17 at 7 p.m. Buy tickets online or call the ticket office at 563-333-6251. Don't forget, SAU students get in free!
