James P. "Jamie" Loftus, PhD, has returned to St. Ambrose to serve as Vice President for Enrollment Management, after leaving in 2011 to become president of Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.

"We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Loftus back to St. Ambrose," said Sister Joan Lescinski, CSJ, president of the university. "Jamie's expertise in enrollment management and strong familiarity with our community and mission will serve this institution well in the years ahead. The experience he has gained over the past six years will enhance his value as a leader at St. Ambrose."

Loftus oversaw the Enrollment Management division at St. Ambrose from 1998 through 2011, when enrollment and university net revenues both more than doubled. He also directed student services from 2000 through 2011.

"I'm thrilled to be returning to St. Ambrose," Loftus said. "I look forward to working with established colleagues and developing relationships with new ones.

"I'm thankful to Sister Joan for this opportunity and will be privileged to serve on her cabinet. Together, all members of the enrollment management division will work tirelessly to meet and exceed our goals and objectives. Go Bees!"

Loftus first joined the university in 1990, serving as director of professional development, director of the Master of Pastoral Studies program and assistant dean for continuing education.

In 1995, he helped establish the university's accelerated degree program for adult learners. He led the program's launch and development until his appointment as vice president in 1998.

At Cardinal Stritch, Loftus led efforts for re-accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission and directed a Strategic Planning process that streamlined the private, Catholic university's major initiatives from 12 to five. He also saw fundraising income triple during his tenure and secured the school's first seven-figure gift.

Loftus returned to Davenport in July with his wife, Irene. They are the parents of four daughters: Kathleen and Claire, as well as St. Ambrose graduates Bridget '10 and Molly '15.

Loftus earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1981 and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in marketing in 1990, both from the University of Notre Dame. He earned a Doctor of Planning, Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Iowa in 1998.
