College of Business Student Leadership Award

COB student leadership award

Kathleen Hall, recipient of the College of Business Student Leadership Award, with Dean Bill Lesch

July 2017

This past May, student Kathleen Hall was awarded the ACBSP College of Business Student Leadership Award. Kathleen will be a senior this fall, majoring in Accounting.

Kathleen is from Knoxville, Ill. She decided to attend SAU after hearing an alum speak to her high school Spanish class. Kathleen loves St. Ambrose for many reasons, including the small class sizes and the faculty.

"I know all of my professors, and can get to know them and ask questions," Kathleen said. "There is not a line of 30 students waiting at the end of class, you can personally talk to your professor."

This fall, Kathleen will be the President of the Accounting Club. "Being able to hang out with other accounting students outside of class, in a social setting, is great," she said. As Club President, she hopes to have more social activities, as well as career enhancement opportunities. She has also discussed accounting competitions with Dr. Allison Ambrose.

Currently, Kathleen has an internship with Deloitte in Davenport, and for next summer she already has an internship lined up with Caterpillar. "Hopefully the two different internship experiences will help me decide what kind of accounting I would like to do."

After her undergraduate degree, she plans to work towards a Master of Accounting degree, in order to take the CPA exam. "I have loved accounting since my first class freshman year," Kathleen said. "In accounting, everything works out and balances in the end."

Congratulations, Kathleen!
