New Faculty in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

August 2017

Mohammad Rahdar  was most recently a Postdoc Research Associate in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU). He obtained his PhD at ISU in the field of Operations Research working with Dr. Lizhi Wang and Dr. Guiping Hu. His research focus is on both applied and theoretical aspects of operations research, and currently he is working on designing two algorithms to solve bi-level linear programming problems more efficiently and developing a tri-level optimization model for transportation network design which improves the resiliency of the network against uncertain disruption. He received the ISU Research Excellence Award in 2015 and has been active in developing and teaching several courses such as Operations Research, Optimization, Engineering Economics, Production Management, and Computer Applications in Management.

Rebecca Romatoski completed her PhD in Nuclear Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She researches Fluoride-salt-cooled High-temperature Reactor (FHR) technology. Becky is interested in thermal fluids as it relates to using nuclear power to mitigate carbon emissions and studying new applications for high-temperature salts such as solar energy and batteries. She is eager to inspire students to be engineers and use their knowledge to improve the world. As a Minnesota native, Becky loves to play ice hockey. She also enjoys running, card games, playing the piano, and spending time with family, especially her little son Zinn who turned one in August! Becky is very excited to move her family to the Midwest and join the Fighting Bees.
