Theatre newsletter profile

Anthony Duckett is brand new to St. Ambrose University this year. He is fairly new to theater as well, and wants to take part in many of the productions on campus in the following years. We sat down with Anthony to ask him a few quick questions.

Hometown: Lansing Illinois, south of Chicago
Major: Theater with a secondary major in Speech/Theatre Education

What would your dream role be?
I have two dream roles: Enjolras from Les Miserables and Gabe from Next to Normal.

What different productions have you been involved with in the past?
I have acted in two productions back home. I was Cinderella's father in Into the Woods and the butler Bensonhurst in Murders in the Heir. Currently I am in the Fresh Face Revue. These characters were really enjoyable to portray and made me want to be involved in theatre more.

Why did you choose St. Ambrose?
I chose St. Ambrose for the theater department. Everyone in the department has been extremely nice and helpful with anything I have questions with. Also, the scholarships given in the department were another factor as to why I chose St. Ambrose.

What is your favorite show?
I have only seen three shows in total, but so far the production of Lonely Planet I saw in the SAU Studio Theatre has to be my favorite.

What is your favorite class this semester?
I really enjoy Survey of Theater and Intro to Set Design. These are really fun classes and I get to learn about theater while having fun with other tech students.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I tend to ask people if they would like to go have lunch even when it's dinner time.

St. Ambrose is glad to have Anthony join the theater department, and we look forward to see all what he does in the future. You can catch him performing on the Allaert in the Fresh Face Revue in October, or working down in the scene shop most afternoons. Welcome to SAU Theatre Anthony!
