Glassman has promoted a deeper U.S. understanding of China since completing his dissertation on educational policy in China at the University of Michigan in 1974.

At the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Glassman fills multiple roles as associate provost for academic affairs, director of the Center for International Studies, and associate professor of Political Science. At the Center for International Studies, Glassman oversees international students and scholar programs and coordinates the internationalization of curriculum on campus.

Education in China remains a research focus, along with U.S. foreign policy in East Asia and U.S. economic relations with Pacific Rim countries. He helmed the Chinese Culture and Education Foundation in St. Louis, has served for many years as president of the Nanjing-St. Louis Sister Cities Committee, and has worked with other St. Louis organizations to promote interest in China and East Asia.

Glassman's books will be available for purchase at the lecture and the SAU bookstore. A book-signing will take place immediately following the lecture.

The Rogalski Center is located at the corner of Ripley and Lombard Streets, one block west of Harrison Street.

The prestigious Folwell Chair Endowment was established in 2001 by Jane Folwell, an energetic volunteer and generous benefactor for educational, health and community groups and initiatives, including Junior Achievement, Genesis Health Services Foundation and St. Ambrose University. Mrs. Folwell's husband, Frank, was a highly respected Quad City businessman and philanthropist who passed away in 1997.

China is a diverse nation with more than 5,000 years of rich history, and also a rising superpower boasting the world's second-largest and fastest-growing economy. "China Project: The Awakening Dragon" will explore China's global impact-both past and present-while bringing into focus the university's commitment to intercultural engagement.
