The St. Ambrose Fighting Bees will take a 15-game winning streak to the NAIA National Championships next week in Point Lookout, Mo., after crushing Grand View 84-55 in Sunday night's Midwest Collegiate Conference tournament championship game.
The 15 straight wins match the longest winning streak of Coach Ray Shovlain's 29-year head coaching career, first achieved in 1988-89, and carries the Bees to within two wins of the best streak in school history. Coach Bob Duax's 1953-54 squad won 17 straight.
St. Ambrose has now won 10 MCC regular season and five MCC Tournament championships since joining the league prior to the 1990-91 campaign.
