The boundaries of a student's learning extend far beyond the walls of the classroom. Residence halls play an important role in nurturing a student's total educational development.
Since 2007, St. Ambrose has offered a special living option available to academic-oriented individuals that value success. The Academic Community Advisor is a student-staff member who lives and works in the Academic Community within the residence hall. This individual works closely with the resident advisors within the community to create an environment where an ideal of lifelong learning is established and nurtured.
The position assumes several different roles such as peer counselor, programmer, disciplinarian, resource coordinator, and friend. The ACA is expected to challenge him/her as well as those around them. It can be fulfilling, frustrating, stimulating, and time consuming. The ACA position is not for everyone – it demands patience and true dedication.
This position is offered to Residence Life staff with at least one year experience for the department. It is a 10-month contract with some summer commitment for Orientation Sessions and final First Year Selection.
Please contact Anjie Swidergal, Residence Life Coordinator, for more details.
