We have an awesome staff this year that is both approachable and friendly so let us know what we can do for you! We encourage you to get to know your RAs, talk with the other RAs, and stop by the Franklin office near the lobby to get to know all of us.
Don't be afraid to knock on doors to meet new people. Walk down the hall, say hello to your friends, meet new people and talk with hall staff. We are going to do everything we can to make your experience here amazing but we also need you to put forth genuine effort. Your effort will contribute significantly to your living experience this year.
First Floor, Franklin Hall
George is excited to be in his 2nd year of ResLife at St. Ambrose! He is currently preparing for the 2014 baseball season and applying to Occupational Therapy grad schools. In his spare time George enjoys exercise, riding bikes, camping, and anything outside. George is looking forward to another awesome year at St. Ambrose!
Jack Leibold, First Floor RA
Hey y'all–I'm your first floor RA Jack Leibold. This will be my first year as a member of Residence Life and my second as a student at Ambrose. I was born in Dubuque, Iowa, but moved to Florida at the age of 5. I went to Cardinal Mooney in Sarasota, Fla. As a freshman I played varsity football as well as dominated all intramural sports. I was also a part of the LOC and awarded student of the month by my professors and resident advisors. I am also the best super smash player ever. That's a fact jack. I look forward to meeting all of you, and please do not hesitate to ask me any questions.
Ryan Giesemann, First Floor RA
Ryan is a junior from La Motte Iowa; it will be his second year on the Residence Life staff and his second year in Franklin hall. He is majoring in physical education teacher education with a minor in history. He is also working on his coaching authorization. Graduating from Dubuque Senior High School in 2011, Ryan was involved National Honors Society, the Spanish Club, Dance Marathon committee, football, swimming, baseball, wrestling, and track. Here at Ambrose, Ryan is involved in the track program. He enjoys the outdoors, playing sports, hanging out with family and friends, and just having fun.
Jackie Runkle, Second Floor RA
This will be my first year as an RA, but sadly my last at St. Ambrose. I'm majoring in Psychology with a minor in Theology and graduating in May. Hailing from the booming metropolis of Forreston, Ill., (pop. 1,500), moving to Davenport was quite the culture shift, but I've loved living here these past three years. When I'm not in class, you'll most likely find me napping because hey, who doesn't enjoy a quality nap? I also enjoy playing guitar (horribly might I add), attempting to play the drums, baking, giving hugs, and watching entire seasons of old TV shows on Netflix in one sitting. At the risk of sounding cliche, I am pumped to be an RA in Franklin this year and have no doubt that second floor will be the coolest and classiest floor in the building.
Karrah Toby, Second Floor RA
Karrah will be coming in as a junior for the 2013 fall semester at St. Ambrose. She is a transfer student from Ashford University, so this is Karrah's first year at Ambrose. Karrah lives in Fox Lake, Illinois and went to high school at Carmel Catholic High School. Her areas of focus in school include a major in Art with a focus on Graphic Design and also a minor in Business. Besides being a Residential Advisor, Karrah is also part of the women's volleyball team at St. Ambrose. In her off time, Karrah likes to hang out with friends, play sports, and be outdoors.
Brian Flisk, Third Floor RA
Brian is the youngest of four siblings. He has two older brothers and one older sister. Brian is from Chicago where he attended St. Rita of Cascia. In high school Brian was involved in football, wrestling, track, and rugby where he was captain of the varsity team his senior year. Brian will be a Junior and it will be his first year on the Residence Life staff. Outside of class at St. Ambrose, Brian is involved in the St. Ambrose Rugby Club, and serves as its President. He also enjoys watching sports teams, playing different sports, fishing, hanging out with family and friends. You are most likely to find Brian–when he is not in his room or class–at the Lee Lohman Arena. Brian is a die-hard Chicago Bears, Bulls, White Sox, and Blackhawks fan. Brian is looking forward to an awesome year with the Franklin community and residents.
Megan VanHoorn, Fourth Floor RA
Megan is excited, and extremely sad, to be starting her fourth year at St. Ambrose. She LOVES Ambrose and graduation is going to be bittersweet for her. She grew up in Wonder Lake, Ill., with her older brother and her loving parents. Megan is majoring in nursing with minors in Spanish and psychology. !Se gusta hablar en Español! When Megan is not studying or in class she enjoys being outside, adventuring with friends, playing tennis, rollerblading, going to Zumba, and volunteering in the community. Megan has really enjoyed getting involved on campus. She is a member of Ambrosians for Peace and Justice (APJ), Habitat for Humanity, CAB, and Phi Eta Sigma. This is Megan's second year on the Residence Life staff. She is really looking forward to building more awesome relationships with her residents and is ready to start another great year at St. Ambrose University!
Mary Scheck, Fourth Floor RA
Mary is in her third year here at St. Ambrose and will be starting in the fall as a first year Master of Occupational Therapy student. Originally from Lake Zurich, Ill.–a northwest suburb of Chicago–she came to SAU for its small school appeal and family-like community. She is very involved on campus, from being a tour guide in the Admissions Office, to a STAR at orientation, and being involved with Dance Marathon; she's always a busy bee! In her free time she loves to cook, craft, and spend time with her friends and family. She's very outgoing and friendly, loves to make people laugh, and is super excited to start her first year with Residence Life. She looks forward to getting to know her residents and make this year fantastic!!! Don't hesitate to ask her any questions; she's always looking to help anyone out any way she can!
