Join our culture of scholars, a small community of students eager to learn, with a strong work ethic and a keen interest in being pushed intellectually.

In addition to the rigorous study and wide-ranging, multidisciplinary discussions of the Honors core courses, each student will have the opportunity to work with a faculty member to develop a research project or scholarly activity. This intensive focus is invaluable preparation for academic work beyond an undergraduate degree.

Admissions Quick Facts

Honors Program study is open to students who have been accepted to St. Ambrose University pursuing any major. Core courses in the Honors Program fulfill general education requirements. The deadline to apply is April 14, 2013.

HONORS I: First-year students
Admitted prior to orientation. Acceptance based primarily on student essay, plus a GPA of 3.6 or ACT score of 26 or better will be considered..

HONORS II: Transfer, sophomore and junior students
Acceptance based on cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher and two recommendations from faculty in student's major.

Students must maintain a 3.25 average in their honors courses and a 3.25 GPA overall in order to remain in the Honors Program after the first year. This will be assessed annually and students will have one semester to improve their gpa if it falls below the 3.25 level.
