Congratulations on being accepted to St. Ambrose University!

Your first day as a student at SAU will be here before you know it. In order to make this day a success, you must register for one of our summer orientation programs. A $75 orientation fee must also be paid at the time of registration to guarantee your spot in orientation.

Orientations sessions are being held on:

Monday, June 4-Tuesday, June 5 (FULL)
Thursday, June 7-Friday June 8 (FULL)
Monday, June 11-Tuesday June 12 (FULL)
Thursday, June 14-Friday, June 15 (FULL)
Monday, June 18- Tuesday, June 19

Fill out the online form and pay the $75 orientation fee using a credit card or check routing number at www.sau.edu/orientation. Registrations will not be processed until the fee has been processed. Please note that session space is limited. You will be assigned your orientation date based on the availability of your choices.

Once you have an assignment, you will be sent a confirmation email to the email address provided on your registration form. This will tell you the date you've been assigned to. Please expect to receive this information three-four days after you sign up.

Here is information you need to know for orientation:

  • Students stay on campus in a residence hall.
  • Pizza will be served to students later in the evening but please plan to eat dinner prior to arriving
  • Parents /Guests are encouraged but not required to attend both days of orientation
  • Several students will need to complete an online writing placement test prior to orientation. If you need to take this test information will be mailed to you from the Placement Office. Hotel information for parents can be found at www.visitquadcities.com.
  • A photo for your student ID will be taken

 

Schedule

First Day

6:30-7:00 pm Check-in will be held on the 2nd floor of the Rogalski Center.
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building. Students will be spending the night on-campus. Please bring your overnight belongings with you to the check-in table. Bed linens and towels are provided but please bring any desired personal items. A light jacket or sweatshirt, and an umbrella are suggested.
At check-in you will be given a detailed individualized schedule of events to follow for the remainder of the evening and the following day.

7:00-7:15 pm Welcome and Announcements
7:20- 8:00 pm Academic Orientation (A time for students and parents to meet with academic advisors and prepare to make your class schedule the next day)
8:15 pm Chemistry Placement Testing. Students planning to major in Biology, Chemistry, Exercise Science, Fitness, Physics, Forensic Psychology, B.S. Psychology, Pre-Medicine or Physical Therapy are required to take the Chemistry Placement Test. Nursing majors who plan to attend graduate school should also take the test. Those interested in Occupational Therapy do not need to take this test.
8:15 pm Parents are invited to a Parents' Social hosted by Alumni and Parent Relations Office. Drinks and light appetizers will be served.
8:15 pm Activities for new students with the STARS (Students Trained as Role-Model Students).

Second Day

7:45-8:30 am Continental breakfast provided on the 3rd floor of Rogalski Center. This is where students and parents will meet for the day.
8:00-8:20 am Mass in Christ the King Chapel (optional)
Events will begin the second day promptly at 8:30 am and will conclude at 2:30 pm. During this time students and parents will attend a number of sessions including advising and registration, financial aid, student life, and STARS .
