Getting Hired

Library at night
St. Ambrose University Library

With such a wide variety of employment opportunities available in the Quad Cities alone, Ambrose staff, students and alumni continue to find ways to develop partnerships with area businesses to give you both an outstanding educational experience and the tools you will need to land the job of your dreams right out of school.

Employers on campus

Each year, Ambrose partners with "that other school" across the river (our good friends at Augustana College) to introduce employers to the diverse and talented prospects on our campuses and to help our students make informed decisions for future success. Two regularly scheduled career fairs feature full-time, part-time and internship opportunities for both students and alumni of the two schools.

  • The fall and spring career fairs are intended for students pursuing any major. For employers and students, it's a win-win, with past fairs generating the interest of more than 200 young professionals. Students can interact with as many as 50 non-profit agencies, businesses and industries. The diversity of participating companies maximizes the benefits for all students, regardless of major or academic career status.
  • For students in the first- and second-years of study, even if not seeking a job or internship quite yet, the fairs are great chances to begin networking with companies you may want to work for in the future. It's never too early!

So who are these companies you speak of?

While far from a conclusive list, here's just a sample of some of the businesses and organizations that recruit and hire on the Ambrose campus:

  • American Red Cross
  • Caterpillar
  • DavenportOne
  • Deere & Company
  • Genesis Health Systems
  • HON Industries
  • Modern Woodmen of America
  • Rock Island Arsenal
  • Sedona Group
  • Wells Fargo Financial
