Transfer Agreements

We have agreements to accept Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees from all Illinois and Iowa community colleges to satisfy most of your general education requirements. Here are some transfer planning guides to help you. Or, check out this information about transfer course equivalency.

Additionally, we have specific articulation agreements with Eastern Iowa Community College, Palmer College of Chiropractic, Moraine Valley Community College, Carl Sandburg College, Southeastern Community College, and Black Hawk College. These formal agreements match coursework between the schools and each are listed below.

Reverse Transfer
Sometimes it's in a student's best interest to transfer to SAU and complete the requirements for AA or AS degree while taking classes here. Students may "reverse transfer" their credit hours and earn their degree from the community college after beginning classes here.

The Reverse Credit Transfer program allows your coursework to automatically be sent to the community college you designate for the purposes of completing your degree or other certification. To qualify, transfer students need to have earned 45 or more semester credit hours from the community college they most recently attended prior to enrolling at SAU. Students opt into Reverse Credit Transfer program when they complete the request form.

Per Major

The Iowa Board of Education's Transfer Major Associate Degree program ensures Iowa community college graduates can smoothly transition to four-year institutions with all credits accepted plus the opportunity to save money by graduating with a bachelor's degree in four semesters.

SAU has transfer major agreements with all 15 Iowa community colleges: Des Moines Area, Eastern Iowa, Hawkeye, Indian Hills, Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes, Iowa Western, Iowa Valley, Kirkwood, North Iowa Area, Northeast Iowa, Northwest Iowa, Southeastern, Southwestern and Western Iowa Tech.
