Everything You Wanted to Know - and More!
Name:

Occupation:

Hometown: Davenport, Iowa
Family: Tianna (Wife), Sasha (our Siberian
Husky), Dale and Alison (Parents)
From all my years at St.
Ambrose, I'll never forget: The
smiles and company of the tremendous friends I met along the
way. The beauty of the afternoon sun shining through the
stained glass windows in the Board Room (Old Chapel). The
effect of the changing seasons on the campus. The time and
undying encouragement my teachers gave me. The oh so needed
criticism my teachers gave me - I'm better off because of
it. The privilege of spending an afternoon discussing St.
Ambrose history with Monsignor Menke and Bishop O'Keefe at
the chancery shortly before they passed away. Graduation
Day. Don Challis' red shorts.
Favorite SAU class: Theology, Art History
and Ethics.
Favorite food: Lasagna
What's in my CD player: Classical, Jazz, Blues, Country and
a little bit of everything else.
Favorite
book: "Why We Fight" and "More Than
Money"
Famous person (living or dead) I'd
most like to meet: Senator
Zell Miller, Georgia; Jesus; Mark McGwire and Neil
Cavuto
If I had all the time in the world, I'd spend it: Writing
stories, start a business, catch up with old friends, travel
the USA. Remind people not to take their liberty and freedom
for granted.
If I could change one thing, I would: Change
nothing. Good and bad experiences alike help grow
and make us who we are.
Peak experience: This is a journey, not a
destination. There must always be that next peak experience
to work toward.
Favorite vacation spot: Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
and the Blue Ridge Mountains
Person who has had the
greatest influence on me: My
close circle of friends (you know who you are), my parents
and my wife.
I wish I knew
how to: Skydive and Scuba Dive.
Personal motto or favorite quote: Many things in life
will catch your eye but only a few will catch you heart.
Pursue those.
Advice to St. Ambrose freshmen:
Don't be shy! Get involved in something at SAU no matter how
small or trivial that something may seem. In the grand
scheme of things, nothing is trivial or insignificant, for
everything and everyone makes a difference and a
contribution. Get to know everyone you can, even those who
you don't have much in common with. Everyone you meet knows
something you don't. Learn from them and you may discover
something about yourself in the process. Support the SAU
athletic teams! Speak your mind and take some risks along
the way. Have principles and never sacrifice them. On
graduation day, be able to look back and say, "All in
all, not bad, not bad at all."
