Graduation year: 1995
Occupation: Physician - Radiologist
Hometown:
Eldridge, IA
Family: Just me...and a cat named Sophie
From all my years at St. Ambrose, I'll never forget:
The wonderful people I met and experiences I had participating in the music and theater departments. I also appreciate the amazing one-on-one attention I had from my professors.
Favorite SAU class:
Anatomy and Physiology; Victorian Literature
Favorite food:
Pasta, creme brulee
What's in my CD player: Sting
Favorite book: Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye"; Austen's "Persuasion"
Famous person (living or dead) I'd most like to meet:
Katharine Hepburn
If I had all the time in the world, I'd spend it: Seeing the world and spending time with my family
What really gets on my nerves is when: People exaggerate the urgency or severity of a problem so that they get special attention.
If I could change one thing, I would: Not change a thing! It's the experiences I've had and mistakes that I've made and learned from that have shaped who I am today.
Peak experience:
Finishing residency and becoming board certified...the culmination of over 10 years of hard work!
Favorite vacation spot:
Florence, Italy
Person who has had the greatest influence on me:
Too many to name...at SAU, Dr. Kirk Kelley. He helped me realize that I had an aptitude for Biology and pushed me in the direction of medicine. Also several other professors in medical school and residency who I respect and admire.
I wish I knew how to:
Scuba dive. I hope to fulfill that dream soon.
Personal motto or favorite quote:
It sounds silly, but my motto is: "Don't sweat the small stuff." I always try to remember just how fortunate I really am.
Advice to St. Ambrose freshmen:
Take advantage of your time in college to find out who you really are and what your interests are. Try to take classes outside of your major...it's one of the only times in your life when you can explore those interests without too many other demands on your time. You might be surprised where those experiences lead you!
