The SAU theatre newsletter recently had the pleasure of interviewing first-year Erika Seabloom for the Fresh Face Focus! We discussed many different aspects of theatre, and trust us, we know will soon be seeing a lot of her!
Q: What are your major(s)/minors?
A: My major is English and Speech and Theatre/Communications Education (a mouthful, I know!)
Q: How did you get into theatre?
A: I got into theatre my freshman year of high school when I auditioned for my school's spring musical and got cast as a member of the "Adult Chorus" in Footloose.
Q: What are some of your favorite shows, roles, or roles you'd love to play?
A: Some of my favorite shows include Hamilton, Avenue Q, and The Book of Mormon. I'm super into musicals if you couldn't tell! One role I'd absolutely love to play would be the role of Cathy in The Last Five Years.
Q: Are you interested in any other aspects of theatre? Tech, costumes, lighting, set design, etc.?
A: When it comes to theatre, I am mostly interested in being on stage acting, but I do enjoy being a part of set design and construction. I helped out a lot with set construction at my high school; there's something really satisfying and fulfilling about seeing a set come together and knowing that you were a part of creating it.
Q: What are some of your other hobbies?
A: My other hobbies include reading, writing, playing in the Marching/Pep Band, singing in the Chorale, and playing video games.
Erika has been and will be a great addition to our department for her next three years with us, and we cannot wait to see what she has in store!
