The Master of Pastoral Theology (MPTh) program is dedicated to preparing Christians for various forms of ministry within their communities of faith. Designed to be completed in two to four years, the MPTh is conveniently delivered in a combination of online and face-to-face courses beginning with a three-week summer residency incorporating hands-on pastoral community building. With cohorts of no more than 10 students admitted to the program each year, MPTh students become fully engaged in a curriculum that includes core pastoral theology coursework and rigorous theological content in areas of scripture, ethics, systematics, and spirituality/sacraments.
During the summer sessions students take part in traditional coursework and key community development programming. During their first summer in the program, students also participate in workshops to introduce them to the Blackboard technology system used to deliver the online component of the program.
While the program is grounded in the Roman Catholic tradition, members of any religious community will find the program inviting, broadly ecumenical, and actively promoting religious, cultural and gender diversity.
