MOT Program Celebrates 100 Percent Pass Rate

The St. Ambrose University Master of Occupational Therapy Program has received word that all members of its 2007 graduating class have passed the rigorous exam for licensing registered occupational therapists to practice nationwide.

"This is wonderful news," says Bob Ristow, dean of St. Ambrose’s College of Education and Health Sciences. "It is indicative of the high quality of our master of occupational therapy program and the faculty that help to prepare these professionals for rewarding careers."

SAU's 100 percent pass rate is even more impressive when compared to the national average of 88.9 percent for all occupational therapists taking the exam.

"The national board exam is very difficult and covers a lot of material,” says Phyllis Wenthe, assistant professor and director of SAU’s OT program. “Our graduates’ success is the result of hard work and discipline, as well as the dedication and quality of instruction provided by the occupational therapy faculty."

News of the 100 percent pass rate comes at an exciting time for SAU’s OT program. In summer 2008, the university will launch a new transitional master’s degree program for post-professional practitioners, the only such program in the state of Iowa and one of only 50 in the nation.
