Sr LescinskiWith standing room only in the Rogalski Center ballroom, St. Ambrose University President-elect Sr. Joan Lescinski, CSJ, was presented to the  campus community during a welcoming ceremony on Friday, Jan. 26. This was the first visit for Lescinski since her selection was announced by the board of directors in December.

Dr. Keith Haan and the SAU Chorale began the short program with the hymn “O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright.” Words of welcome were offered by Dr. Jim Van Speybroeck, professor of finance, economics and decision science and chair of the faculty assembly; and Amy Jones, communication center production coordinator and chair of the staff assembly. Lescinski was presented to the campus community by President Ed Rogalski. After brief remarks, Lescinski received her first “Bee wear”—a bright blue SAU logo sweatshirt—by Student Government Association President Emma Crino. The program ended with the assemblage singing the university’s Alma Mater.

The first woman to lead the university in its 125-year history, Lescinski will take office in summer 2007, succeeding Rogalski, who is retiring after 20 years as the university’s president.
