The Student Government Association has named the SAU Hip Hop Club "Club of the Year" for the 2007-08 academic year.

The SAU Hip Hop Club performs for St. Ambrose events such as the student activities talent show, basketball tournament and Multicultural Week, as well as in the Quad Cities community. Members can choose to perform or practice with the team solely for physical fitness purposes.
According to SGA Clubs and Organization’s Finance Chair Katelynn Krahn, "After only three semesters, this club has 13 dedicated members and two advisors. They have learned to be flexible due to space constraints; many times club members can be seen re-arranging the Lee Lohman Lobby to create practice space. The Hip Hop Club has surpassed some obstacles, becoming a recognized group both at Saint Ambrose and within the Quad Cities community. May the dedication, commitment and drive these leaders possess have a ripple effect on all SAU students."

The St. Ambrose Hip Hop Club creates cultural awareness of the popular music and lifestyle of Hip Hop. The club aims to educate the campus community through events that cover the origin, impact, and opportunities that came as a result of the influence of hip hop on language, fashion, personal style, music/entertainment careers and dance. We hope to unify diverse crowds through our education and performance efforts.
