Art by Sharon McCartney

Sharon McCartney recently moved to Belchertown, Mass., where she designed and had built a 1400 square-foot studio on her woodland property. With a master’s degree in art history from Boston University, Mass., McCartney has drawn from the influences of both Asian and European art with natural themes. Her paintings, collages and artist’s books have been exhibited throughout New England and the United States, and have been included in corporate, university and private collections. Her work has been featured in American Craft, Fiberarts, Somerset Studio and Surface Design Journal, as well as in the books "Mixed-Media Collage" and "Altered Books, Collaborative Journals and Other Adventures in Bookmaking," both by Holly Harrison (Rockport Publishers). Active in the art community, McCartney co-founded Boston Book Arts in 1999; has curated exhibitions for the New Art Center in Newton, Newtonville, and the Fiber Art Center, Amherst, both of Massachusetts; and teaches workshops in collage and book arts.
