Bee the Difference Day will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 1-5 p.m. The day will include more than 400 students, 40 homes and yards, and four hours of service to the surrounding community.
Bee the Difference Day helps families in area neighborhoods prepare their yards for winter. The day is completely organized by students, who work in teams of four to six students.
Students can register for the event throughout the coming week.
The event is planned by the St. Ambrose University Student Government Association (SGA). Caitlin Nelson is the Director of Government Operations this year, the committee within SGA that plans the event. "Bee the Difference Day is more than just a day of service. It is a way of community outreach for the students to get to know our neighbors in a very positive way," Caitlin said.
The committee reaches out to student clubs and organizations to take part, and helps coordinate house registration and where teams will go on the day of the event.
This year, the send-off for the event will be held in the University's new Wellness and Recreation Center. Also, alumni can participate this year and will be spread out in different groups for the day.
Following the event, students and neighbors are invited to a dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center.
