Siblings Weekend FAQs for Parents

Frequently Asked Questions About Siblings Weekend

Where will the siblings sleep?
Siblings of any age that are the same sex of their St. Ambrose resident student may stay in the residence halls. Overnight guests of the opposite sex are not allowed to stay with their St. Ambrose sibling except for siblings under the age of 13. In this case, SAU students are encouraged to find other accommodations for these siblings with friends.

Where will they eat?
Students can eat in the cafeteria if they wish at a cost (cash is accepted at the door; meal plans will not work for siblings), or take some time to explore the fine restaurants in the Quad Cities.

What will the program cost?
All events held on campus during the weekend will be provided by the Campus Activities Board at no cost to the siblings, with the exception of the some off-campus events and brunch on Sunday. Siblings may want to bring some incidental spending money to cover the cost of sodas, snacks or shopping in the Bookstore or Quad City area.

Should parents attend?
This experience is for St. Ambrose University students and their siblings. Parents are welcome to stay in town at a hotel as a mini-retreat for themselves, and participate in events such as the theatre production, basketball game, Mass and brunch.

What else do I need to know?
It is important that you speak to your St. Ambrose student about the responsibility that comes with having a sibling visit for the weekend. It is expected that the St. Ambrose student will be with their siblings at all times and assume complete responsibility for their welfare.
