Every year, the SAU Theatre Department wraps everything up by celebrating the graduating class with The SAU Senior Showcase. This is an annual celebration during which SAU Theatre graduates perform the best work they can through performances or presentations of technical work.
It serves as an event to praise the hard work of SAU Theatre students and doubles as an opportunity to introduce students to potential local employers. The Department invites professional theatrical people in the area to enjoy the performances of Ambrose students. Many SAU students have earned jobs through this event, and it has been a wildly successful event for years.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, it has been deemed unsafe to have any performances with an audience. This means this year's graduating seniors wouldn't have the opportunity this spring to partake in The Senior Showcase.
Luckily, there is a solution. The Department is moving the Senior Showcase to this upcoming fall so students still get the opportunity to perform and present. Many details are yet to be set in stone, but several students have agreed to participate. It will be about the same as the typical Senior Showcase, only in the fall rather than the spring.
With everything shutting down, it's nice to have something to look forward to. Everyone can only hope that soon everything gets back to normal. The SAU Theatre Department is committed to trying to keep theatre in students' lives throughout it all.
