Adrian Heckinger '05 and Carin Scheinin are the proud parents of Emilia Sloane, born July 7, 2017.
Matt '05, '08 MBA and Jennifer (Freeman) Law '05, '12 MEA are celebrating the birth of their daughter Kacie, born on Aug. 17, 2016. She joins her older siblings Ethan and Quinn.

Class Notes

The National Academy of Engineering elected John Monnier '69 as a member. Monnier also recently was promoted to full-tenured, distinguished professor in the department of chemical engineering at the University of South Carolina.

Rev.  John "Jack" Sullivan '73 became pastor at three Missouri parishes on July 6, 2017: Sacred Heart Church in Salem, Christ the King Mission in Bunker and St. Jude Chapel in Montauk.

The LRAD Corporation, a producer of advanced mass notification systems based in San Diego, has named Dennis Klahn '80 chief financial officer.

J. Crew and Madewell Stores promoted Julia (Fogg) Charest '80 to senior regional loss prevention director.  She resides near Hartford, Connecticut.

Mark McLaughlin '82 published his 36th book, The Relic in the Egyptian Gallery, a collection of stories co-written with Michael Sheehan Jr. His books have appeared in the Amazon Kindle Top 100 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Japan.

Janet (Vercellotti) Madrigal '84 opened Attic to Appraisals in southwest Chicago. She is also a member of the International Society of Appraisers.

Michael Fleckenstein '96 is the head assistant basketball coach at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Ali Chowdhury '02 MBA has been honored as an Asian-American leader transforming the energy industry by the Asians in Energy Organization. Chowdhury is vice president of transmission and generation connection at 8minutenergy Renewables, a Folsom, California company that is one of the largest independent solar power developers in the U.S.

Amy (Hoover) Jones '02 is director of philanthropy at Royal Neighbors of America and was named a 2017 Outstanding Young Iowan by the Iowa Junior Chamber. She recently helped raise nearly a half-million dollars for the UnityPoint Health-Trinity Foundation.

Alex Keil '07 received the Division III Excellence in Communications Award from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Keil is the sports information director at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Nirmala Lekhak '09 has been hired as an assistant professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas after recently receiving her doctoral degree from Case Western Reserve University's nursing program.

Andrew Guzzo '10 has joined Merchants Bank as regional president in Winona, Minnesota.

Lynsey (Larson) Steinbach '10 began practicing at Lisenby Physical Therapy in Peoria, Illinois.

Sr. Mary Therese Krueger '11, '12 DPT professed her vows as a Sister of the Presentation on Oct. 14, 2017 in Sacred Heart Chapel, Mount Loretto, Dubuque, Iowa.

James Hinderks '14 is the systems manager of mission integration at SCL Health in Broomfield, Colorado.

Chad Uhde '15 MEA has been named dean of students at Bettendorf (Iowa) High School.

  After receiving her CPA license, Katie Zorn '15 is a cost accountant at an HNI plant in Rome, Georgia.

    Correction

St. Ambrose University music department bands and/or choirs toured internationally six times from 1980-2000. An article in the Summer 2017 edition of Scene incorrectly stated the most recent international trip prior to a spring tour by the SAU Chamber Singers.

Addy Nelson ’23 was born with an entrepreneur’s spirit. With her parents owning the bowling alley in her hometown of Gregory, South Dakota—the same place she perfected her game to earn a scholarship to St. Ambrose University—she learned early to be innovative, customer-focused and business-minded.
