Bell, who graduated from St. Ambrose in 1972, has had solo shows at many galleries nationwide including Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, Galerie Timothy Tew, Atlanta, Ga., and the University of California, San Francisco, Calif. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Iowa Arts Council and Quad City Arts/Illinois Art Council. His work is in the collections of the State of Iowa, Des Moines; Ohio State University, Athens; the Erie Art Museum, Erie, Pa; Modern Woodmen, Rock Island, Ill., and the Figge Art Museum, Davenport., Iowa. Bell earned his master of fine arts degree in painting from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. He has taught at St. Ambrose since 1974 and is represented by the Moberg Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa.
