Congratulations to the SAU class of 2024! Graduation candidates and their families should review the information below for important updates and approaching deadlines for the spring commencement ceremony. Schedule of Events

Graduation Application Deadline
March 15, 2024 | 4:30pm | Registrar’s Office

Students who plan to graduate for the spring 2024 term are required to apply for graduation by submitting the Graduation Application. Students who apply after the March 15th deadline will not be listed in the printed program or other printed materials.

Regalia Ordering Deadline
April 1, 2024 | 9:00pm | SAU Bookstore

The deadline to order graduation regalia is April 1st, 2024! All orders will be delivered to the SAU bookstore and graduates will pay for their order at pick up. Please contact the SAU Bookstore at books@sau.edu with any questions.

Student Awards Night
May 2, 2024 | 6:00pm | Rogalski Center Ballroom

Awards Night is the annual ceremony recognizing students for their academic achievements in and out of the classroom. Students are nominated for recognition by faculty and staff for their work over their entire tenure at SAU. Students will be contacted by the nominator if they will be receiving an award at the event.

Cultural and Ethnic Stole Donning Ceremony
May 5, 2024 | 3:00pm | Rogalski Center Ballroom

The purpose of the Stole Donning Ceremony is to recognize and promote the significance of family, friends, and the “university family” in the accomplishments of our graduates of a particular ethnic background. In order to meet this purpose, participating students identifying as either Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous/Native American, and Pacific Islander will be presented with a cultural representative stole. Students should submit the Cultural Stole Ceremony Application by April 28th.

Regalia Order Pick Up
May 9-18, 2024 | 8:30am-4:30pm | SAU Bookstore

Graduates can pick up and pay for their regalia from the bookstore on the second floor. Please contact the bookstore at books@sau.edu with any questions.

Graduation Fee Deadline
May 10, 2024 | 4:30pm | Student Financial Services

Graduates are to pay the $50.00 graduation fee by May 10th. Students who pay after the deadline might experience delays in receiving their diploma and transcripts. Please contact Student Financial Services at sfs@sau.edu with questions.

Military Connected Graduates Honoring Ceremony
May 13, 2024 | 4:00pm | Rogalski Center Ballroom

Medals will be presented to graduating military veterans and service members, and honor cords will be presented to children and spouses of veterans. In recognition of their achievements, these will be worn with graduation attire for the commencement ceremony. A reception with light refreshments to follow. Students wishing to participate should confirm their attendance by completing the RSVP form. Please contact Veteran Services at Veterans@sau.edu with questions.

Commencement Rehearsal Ceremony and Senior Reception
May 16, 2024 | 5:00pm | Galvin Fine Arts

Graduating undergraduate students are required to attend the Commencement Rehearsal. Check-in will begin at 4:00pm in the main lobby of the Galvin Fine Arts building. The Senior reception, hosted by the Alumni Office, will begin after the Commencement Rehearsal in the Bee Hive and will include complimentary appetizers, beer, wine, and soda. If you are unable to attend the Commencement Rehearsal please email Registrar@sau.edu for further instructions.

Commencement Mass
May 17, 2024 | 4:30pm | Christ the King Chapel

Graduating students and their families are invited to join us for the Commencement Mass at Christ the King chapel. Graduating students will be presented a cross bracelet as their graduation gift.

Nursing Pinning Ceremony
May 17, 2024 | 7:00pm | Galvin Fine Arts

The Nursing Pinning Ceremony honors and celebrates graduating nursing students. The ceremony marks the students’ transition from nursing students to professional nurses. Graduates will be presented with a pin which represents the values and traditions of our nursing program. All family and friends are invited to celebrate our graduates’ accomplishments.

Graduate and Doctoral Commencement and Hooding Ceremony
May 18, 2024 | 9:00am | Vibrant Arena at The MARK

The Graduate and Doctoral Commencement and Hooding Ceremony will take place on May 18th at 9:00am at the Vibrant Arena in Moline, IL.

Graduate Information: Check-in for graduates will begin at 8:00am. Graduates should enter through the Employee Entrance on the south side of the Vibrant Arena which is directly beneath the skywalk. Guest Information: Attendance is free and there is no limit on how many guests can attend per graduate. Parking is available in the parking garage and parking lots across the street from the Vibrant Arena.

Commencement Brunch
May 18, 2024 | 10:00am-11:30am | Rogalski Center Ballroom

A commencement brunch will be provided to celebrate our new graduates and their families! Advance registration is required and registration can be completed between March 1st-May 10th. Cost is $15.00 per person (ages 13 or older), $8.00 per person (ages 6-12), $4.00 per person (ages 5 and under). There is no cost for the graduate, but registration is required. Register Here.

Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
May 18, 2024 | 1:00pm | Vibrant Arena at The MARK

The Undergraduate Ceremony will take place on May 18th at 1:00pm at the Vibrant Arena in Moline, IL.

Diploma Pick Up Information
June 10-14, 2024 | 8:00am-4:30pm | Registrar’s Office

Students may choose to pick up their diplomas in the Registrar’s office from June 10th-14th. To pick up your diploma in-person, please email Registrar@sau.edu with your student ID number and your intent to pick up your diploma. Please bring a photo ID at pick-up.

Diploma Release Information
June 17, 2024 | 4:30pm | Registrar’s Office

Diplomas that were not picked up will be sent to the campus post office on June 17, 2024. Students who have an account hold will not be sent their diplomas. Email Registrar@sau.edu with any changes to your mailing address, printed name on the diploma, requests for early mailing, or other updates and questions.

Celebrate Your Graduate!

Guests

The SAU community looks forward to celebrating with you on this special day for your graduate!

All graduations/commencement ceremonies will require guests and attendees to enter through entrances with walk-through metal detectors. We will also be enforcing our bag policy, which is any bag/purse over 5"x7"x1" will need to be returned to their vehicle or checked in at Guest Services. Our only exceptions to this are for medical reasons or diaper bags (with small child/children present upon entry). Medical and diaper bags will be searched upon entry. We do not allow airhorns or any noise makers of any kind. Other items that are prohibited, along with weapons of any kind, are pocket knives, pepper spray and helium balloons.

Accessible Parking:

During events, Vibrant Arena offers 43 handicapped parking spaces and a drop-off lane for easy access. Additionally, the skywalk to the Metro LINK parking ramp provides 250 more spots, with direct access to the arena concourse.

Ordering Photos, Flowers, and Diploma Frames
  • Ordering Graduation Photos will be available post commencement. Graduates will receive a letter from Grad Images in the mail to order their photos. Students will take two photos during their graduation ceremony.
  • Ordering Flowers- details coming soon!
  • Diploma Frames and other alumni materials can be ordered through the SAU Bookstore.
Special Accommodations
Vibrant Arena Accessibility - Spring Commencement

Seating & Elevator

Protected alcoves by the suites on the concourse level are available for wheelchair users, with space for one to two accompanying guests. The Accessibility Resource Center reserves the top row of the lower bowl for additional guests. The facility's elevator, located by the west end doors, operates between the main floor and concourse level, opening near section 105.

Wheelchair Assistance

Guests can request wheelchair assistance from Guest Services at the Box Office. Wheelchairs are available for arrival and departure but are not kept with guests during the event to assist others. Ushers will assist guests to their seats and note their location for departure assistance.
