SAU Christmas Events

Join the holiday fun!

 Our Christmas Videos

Each year, the Alumni Office works with the Communications and Marketing department or SAUtv to create a Christmas video for our alumni and friends.  We hope you enjoyed the 2020 version (released on Dec. 21), as well the Christmas message from our Alumni Association Board members.  Here are some of our previous videos!

McMullen Awards

Each year, we award the McMullen Awards during the Feast of St. Ambrose Mass. This celebration occurs in Christ the King Chapel, typically on the first Sunday of December. In 2020, the McMullen Awards, named in honor of St. Ambrose's founder, Bishop John McMullen, were presented to Thomas Higgins ‘67 and Richard Bittner (posthumously). Little Bees and Cookies
(replaces Children's Christmas Party for 2020)

Due to continued rising numbers in COVID-19 cases, the annual Children's Theatre production and Alumni Children's Christmas Party were not possible this year. We were excited to start a new Christmas tradition with our alumni families instead! Check out our SAU Alumni Facebook page to see the creations of our Little Bees. A few lucky little bees won some great St. Ambrose prizes!  Thanks to everyone who participated.

About of the Children's Christmas Party event: Welcoming all alumni and their families for a St. Ambrose Theatre Department's Children's Show and the Children's Christmas Party in the Rogalski Center Ballroom following the show. This event is free for alumni and their families, and is made possible by a partnership between the Galvin Fine Arts Center and the Alumni Engagement Office. Following the show, alumni and their families can head over to the Rogalski Center for games, crafts, Christmas music, and cookie decorating. If you can't make it to the show, you can still attend the party!

1950s/60s/70s Chicago Holiday Luncheon

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Holiday Luncheon will not be held in 2020. Stay tuned for information about future events in Chicago.

About this event: Each year, fellow Chicagoland alumni kick off the Christmas season with a plated lunch in December. Open to those who graduated in 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.

Other Regional Parties

We work with generous alumni to host parties in various areas of the country whenever possible (past favorites have included parties in Naples, Florida, and New York City). If you are interested in hosting a holiday event, please contact the Alumni Office. Make sure to get the announcement by updating your contact information with us here.
