Dan Ebener

Professor


Dr. Dan Ebener is a Professor in the Department of Management. He teaches courses on leadership theory, strategic planning, conflict resolution, dialogical skills, leading change, and servant leadership. He teaches an annual leadership course at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. Dr. Ebener's research interests include leading adaptive change in the Catholic Church, the impact of helping in a collectivist culture, the parables of Jesus applied to leadership, and revitalization of the Catholic Church.

Dr. Ebener has authored five leadership books, conducted strategic planning for more than 300 organizations, and served on over 50 nonprofit boards. He is a member of the Association of Leadership Educators, International Leadership Association, Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, Conference on Pastoral Planning and Council Development, National Leadership Roundtable for Church Management, and International Catholic Stewardship Conference. Dr. Ebener is a frequently presents at conferences and conducts leadership training. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Ebener was the Director of Catholic Charities from 1986-2006, Social Ministry in the Church from 1976-2006, and Director of Interfaith Activities, Fellowship of Reconciliation from 1979-1983.

Dr. Ebener was recognized as the 2016 Graduate Faculty Member of the Year at St. Ambrose University, and received the 2004 Social Justice Award at St. Ambrose University. In 2002, Dr. Ebener received the Spirit of Service Award from the United Way of the Quad Cities. He received the Yves Congar Award for Leadership Development in 2015 by the National Conference on Pastoral Planning and Council Development. Dr. Ebener's book, Blessings for Leaders, was named a Best Seller by Paulist Press in 2014, and he received the Catholic Press Award in 2011 for his book, Servant Leadership Models for Your Parish.
